I’m multidisciplinary artist (is that other way of saying I have a lot of hobbies?).
So, I’m essentially an acrylic + digital artist. But I also use sound, meditation, poetry, video and photography in my art too, and as part of my sessions through We Are Artists Community, an intuitive art group I set up during the pandemic. The community also focuses on well being, social and creative inclusion.
Many times my art will dance from acrylic to digital, then back again. The intuitive process and excitement of learning something new always fuels my art.
Themes and interests wash in and out but predominantly I’m drawn to nature’s fate, community, psychedelics, power (and the abuse of it), gender, neuro-divergence, and the next generation.
I also travel in a van. A lot. I like it … a lot. On the road, my van (‘Bella’) is my studio and gallery, and defines my art and style in many ways.
My practice combines all these parts of life: my art, art community and my travels. Also meditation and sound therapy plays a big role in my life. I practice Vipassana and I’m fascinated by sound frequencies, and again use it in my art and my art community.
Travelling I visit conscious off-grid communities and work / volunteer on sustainable and building projects here and abroad. I feel it’s where we are all heading, and I put the skills and techniques I’ve learned back into art, with the idea of moving into earth art.
I also have mild ADHD and dyslexia. It is one of the reasons I am an artist. Over the years, I have come to see it as an ally and not the enemy. It’s part of my practice and community art sessions.
Me, me, me
I'm a van-lifer / off-grider /
I believe this is where we are all heading. The instability in the climate and resources will continue. It's one of the best things I did. It means I can be an artist and not worry so much about the money. Travel, visit and volunteer off grid communities and generally cause traffic havoc when struggling to drive up a steep hill...
This is my AI face...
I know, it's still not pretty (and a bit redder maybe). AI is in it early stages, but it's already a threat to art and creativity. Do we fight it or work with it?
I run an art community...
I started We Are Are Artists Community in the hot mess of covid. It's the glue that holds everything together. Occasionally we called it 'WAA' and when we get really excited we say it like an art war cry 'WAAAAAAAA!' (But we have stopped beating our chests now)
